A lot of homes sit on sloped lots - and without a solid retaining wall holding things in place, that slope starts causing real problems. Soil shifting. Cracked driveways. Water running where it shouldn't. We deal with these situations all the time, and the fix almost always starts with getting the wall right.
Here's what we were working with on a couple of these jobs. One property had an older concrete wall that had seen better days - crumbling surface, rusted rebar exposed, the whole deal. We stripped it back and poured fresh concrete, smooth and properly reinforced. Another location needed a full precast concrete block retaining wall to hold back a significant slope along the front of the property. Those large textured blocks aren't just functional - they look sharp and they're built to last.
The sidewalk and driveway work ties right into it. When you've got a wall failing or a slope draining poorly, the concrete around it usually takes a hit too. We handle all of it together - retaining walls, driveways, sidewalks - so nothing gets patched in a way that doesn't match or hold up long-term.
Precast concrete block walls in particular are something we get asked about a lot. They're strong, they drain well, and they hold up through freeze-thaw cycles better than a lot of alternatives. For sloped residential properties, they're often the smartest call you can make.
Whether you're dealing with a wall that's starting to lean, a driveway that's cracking along the edges, or a slope that just needs to be properly contained - we've got the experience to do it the right way from the ground up.
